Study in Dalian

Study in Dalian, the "Hong Kong" of Dong Bei (Northeast China) if you are looking for one of the cleanest cities in China. Renowned for its rapid development, cleanliness, beaches, ski resorts and love for football, this city is one of the most popular places in north China.

Dalian has an urban population of around 2.5 million and almost 6 million counting surrounding towns.

Referred to as the "Pearl of the North," Dalian used to be a fishing town and has witnessed incredible growth in recent years. Known as one of the cleanest, unpolluted cities in China, Dalian has attracted a large number of I.T. companies, including Intel who have one of their largest overseas bases in Dalian.

There are several beaches that attract a large number of foreign (traditionally Russians but most recently westerners too) and Chinese tourists in the summer. National stars and politicians frequently spend holidays there. Tiger Beach and Golden Pebble beach are two spots not to miss.

The expat community is increasing in Dalian, though it is still not comparable to that of Beijing. Many Europeans, Americans, Koreans, Japanese and Russians work and/or study in Dalian.

Nightlife in Dalian is varied. There are several clubs and pubs around Zhong Shan Square such as "Dave's Bar", and more laid back bars around Olympic Square Wan Sui road, namely the "Tibetan Bar."
