RUC (meaning People's University of China) is ranked amongst the best universities in China. The university dedicates special attention to humanities and social sciences; however, the university also focuses on disciplines in the area of natural sciences.

The ratio of postgraduates to undergraduates is the highest of all the research-orientated universities in China. Collective enrolment of 30,000 Chinese students occupied in online learning, and over 1000 overseas students.

The main buildings in the university campus include the University library which has 2.5 million holdings, and is considered to be the Information Center of Arts Literatures by the Ministry of Education. Also University of China Press is one of the most popular publishers and the first university press in China which has published a large number of academic works in humanities and social sciences.
